Some schools hosted ceremonies, while others engaged in practices that grounded the community in reconciliation, fostered connections to the land, and supported learning through language, culture, and lived experience. In the lead-up to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, students and staff across Sea to Sky Schools have been participating in learning, activities and events to honour the day and deepen their understanding of Truth and Reconciliation. Throughout the week, students and staff have also been encouraged to wear orange shirts to honour Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the ongoing impacts of the residential school system.

The Sea to Sky School District is inviting public feedback on DRAFT Policy 710 Acceptable Use of Artificial Intelligence & 809 Video Surveillance, which was approved in principle by the Board of Education on June 17, 2026. As part of the district’s policy development process, this draft is now open for a 60-day public review period. Community members are encouraged to share their input, which will be compiled and presented to the Board following the consultation period, closing November 13, 2026. On June 21, Sea to Sky School District recognizes National Indigenous Peoples Day. This day is an opportunity to honour and celebrate the cultures, languages, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. As a district, we are grateful to live, learn, and work on the unceded and ancestral territories of the Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Úxwumixw and St’át’imc Nations.
